Privacy Policy

Overview
Awdio (the “App”) is published by Elevation Interactive LLC. The App is an audiobook player that connects to audiobook libraries you host yourself on Plex Media Server or Audiobookshelf. We designed Awdio to keep your data on your own devices and on your own servers; we do not run accounts, we do not collect listening history, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers.
This policy explains what data the App handles on iOS and Android, where that data lives, and what limited information leaves your device.
Information We Collect
Elevation Interactive LLC does not operate a backend service for Awdio. We do not collect personal information about you on our servers, because we do not have any servers that interact with the App in normal use.
The App itself stores the following on your device:
- Connection details for your Plex and Audiobookshelf servers (server URL, port, any custom HTTP headers you configure)
- Access tokens issued by your Plex or Audiobookshelf server, used to authenticate requests on your behalf
- Listening progress, bookmarks, playback speed, sleep timer preferences, and other in-app settings
- Any audiobooks you have explicitly downloaded for offline listening
This information stays on your device unless you choose to back it up (see “iCloud Sync” and “Android Auto Backup” below) or send it to us as part of a support request.
How Your Data Is Stored
Sensitive credentials such as Plex and Audiobookshelf access tokens are stored using each platform's secure storage facility — the iOS Keychain on Apple devices and Android EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android devices. Non-sensitive preferences (such as playback speed or which server you last opened) are stored using the standard preference storage provided by iOS and Android.
Downloaded audiobook files are stored in the App's private storage area on your device, accessible only to the App.
Plex and Audiobookshelf Connections
To play your library, the App communicates directly with the Plex Media Server or Audiobookshelf server that you tell it to connect to. These requests are sent from your device to your server — they do not pass through Elevation Interactive LLC. The contents of your library, your listening progress synced back to those servers, and any account information held by those servers are governed by the privacy practices of Plex Inc. and the Audiobookshelf project, respectively.
iCloud Sync (iOS)
On iOS and iPadOS, Awdio can sync bookmarks, playback progress, and app preferences across your Apple devices using iCloud. This sync uses Apple's iCloud service in your personal Apple account; Elevation Interactive LLC does not have access to the data stored in your iCloud.
iCloud sync is governed by Apple's privacy practices. You can manage what Awdio syncs from your device's iCloud settings.
Android Auto Backup
On Android, the operating system provides an automatic backup feature that stores certain app data in your personal Google account. This is a Google-provided feature that runs in the background; Elevation Interactive LLC does not have access to this backup data.
When you reinstall Awdio on a new Android device signed into the same Google account, your bookmarks, playback progress, and app preferences are automatically restored.
The following data is excluded from Android Auto Backup:
- Downloaded audiobooks (re-download from your server instead)
- Server access tokens and credentials (sign in again on the new device)
Android Auto Backup is governed by Google's privacy practices. You can manage backup settings in your device's system settings.
Crash Reporting
Awdio uses Sentry for crash reporting to help us diagnose and fix bugs. Crash reports may include:
- Device model and OS version
- App version
- A stack trace from the moment of the crash
- Recent app actions (“breadcrumbs”) that led to the crash
- A random Sentry installation identifier
Crash reports do not include your Plex or Audiobookshelf credentials, server URLs, media library contents, bookmarks, or listening history. The installation identifier does not reveal your identity to us.
Sentry's privacy policy is available at https://sentry.io/privacy/.
Custom HTTP Headers
If you configure custom HTTP headers when connecting to your Audiobookshelf server, those headers are stored on-device alongside your other server connection details. They are transmitted only to your Audiobookshelf server with each request. They are never transmitted to Elevation Interactive LLC or any third party.
Information Sent to Plex
When connecting to Plex Media Server, Awdio sends client identification headers with each request, including app version, device model, device name, platform (iOS or Android), and a per-device identifier. This is required by the Plex API to identify connected clients and is visible in your Plex server's “Devices” list. We do not have access to this information; it resides on your Plex server.
Logs and Diagnostics
If you contact support or generate a debug log to share with us, that log contains recent app activity from the last 72 hours. Logs may include:
- Server URLs and IP addresses
- Network error messages
- App version and device information
Logs do not include access tokens, passwords, or media content. Logs are only shared with Elevation Interactive LLC if you explicitly choose to send them.
In-App Purchases
Awdio may offer premium features through in-app purchase. All billing is processed through the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Elevation Interactive LLC does not collect, store, or have access to your payment information. Specific pricing, trial periods, and refund policies will be disclosed before purchase. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google per their respective policies.
Third-Party Services
The App connects to and uses the following third parties:
- Your Plex or Audiobookshelf server — for streaming and metadata. Governed by Plex Inc. or the Audiobookshelf project respectively.
- Sentry — for crash reporting, as described above.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — for distribution and any in-app purchase billing.
- Apple iCloud / Google Android Auto Backup — for optional, platform-provided backup and sync.
The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, or marketing trackers.
Children's Privacy
Awdio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not have user accounts and does not collect personal information on our servers, no action is required to opt out on a child's behalf.
Your Rights
Because Elevation Interactive LLC does not hold personal information about you in its own systems, requests for access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal data held by us will return no records in nearly all cases.
You can delete all data the App stores on your device by uninstalling the App. You can disable platform-level backup of the App's data through your device's iCloud or Android Auto Backup settings.
If you are located in a jurisdiction with applicable data protection law (for example, the EU, the United Kingdom, or California), you may contact us at privacy@awdioplayer.com with any inquiry; we will respond as required by law.
Data Security
The App uses platform-provided secure storage for sensitive credentials and connects to your servers over the connection scheme you configure (HTTP or HTTPS). We strongly recommend connecting to your Plex and Audiobookshelf servers over HTTPS whenever possible. Because connections go directly between your device and your server, no transport-level credentials pass through Elevation Interactive LLC.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new Effective Date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
